La tarde del 25 de julio de 2014, Twitter reactivó las cuentas de cuatro ‘tuiteros’ críticos con el gobierno tras haberlas suspendido cerca de 24 horas. Los usuarios @polificcion, @carlitoswayec, @Diana_Amores, @JJOLMEDO_, conocidos por por ser críticos con la gestión del gobierno de Ecuador volvieron al aire tras ser suspendidas entre el 23 y 24 de julio sin que Twitter haya dado explicaciones ni motivos del bloqueo.
Diana Amores aseguró a Fundamedios que recibió un correo corto de Twitter en donde se le indicó que han restablecido su cuenta y se disculpan por el error. El día anterior, una vez que la ‘tuitera’ se percató de que su cuenta había sido suspendida escribió a la empresa para reclamar el hecho, tras lo cual recibió un mensaje automático de las buenas prácticas en la red, por lo que nuevamente reclamó y finalmente logró su objetivo de restablecer su cuenta.
El 23 de julio, la cuenta @polificcion, del editor, cineasta y ‘tuitero’ Carlos Andrés Vera fue la primera en ser suspendida con 23 988 seguidores. El cineasta descartó que esta suspensión se deba a que violó alguna de las reglas de Twitter, pues aseguró conocerlas muy bien y aplicarlas con responsabilidad.
Horas más tarde fueron suspendidas las cuentas de @Diana_Amores con 3405 seguidores de @carlitoswayec, con 3410 seguidores y @JJOLMEDO_. Al intentar ingresar a las mismas se lee el siguiente mensaje: “Lo sentimos, este usuario se encuentra suspendido”. También, la cuenta de @carlitosrugrats, con 1194 seguidores dejó de estar al aire, aparentemente tras haber sido eliminada por el mismo usuario.
Tras el bloqueo, @carlitoswayec escribió un mensaje en su cuenta personal de Facebook, el cual también fue reproducido en Twitter , Parte de este dice lo siguiente: “Amigos, escribir sobre los abusos e ilegalidades de este gobierno no es mi causa, es causa de todos quienes queremos un país justo (…) Si me callan algún día, espero no ser la última voz que quede en este país y que este oso en hibernación llamado Ecuador, despierte”.
Esta no es la primera vez que la red social bloquea las cuentas de estos usuarios. El pasado 4 de marzo de 2013, Twitter suspendió la cuenta @polificcion, minutos después de haber publicado unos mensajes en los que cuestionaban los cambios al Sistema Interamericano de Derechos Humanos que impulsa el Gobierno ecuatoriano. En ese entonces, Vera comentó que probablemente su cuenta sufrió un ataque masivo de denuncias de «spam» o que alguien solicitó su cierre.

Twitter reactivated suspended accounts of government critics users
On the afternoon of July 25, 2014, Twitter reactivated four ‘tweeters’ accounts that are critical of the government after have been suspended about 24 hours. Users: @polificcion, @carlitoswayec, @Diana_Amores, @JJOLMEDO_, known for being critical of the Ecuador government’s handling, the accounts returned to the air after being suspended between July 23th and 24th without giving any explanation or reasons by Twitter.
Diana Amores told Fundamedios that she received a short email from Twitter where the company stated that they have restored her account and apologize for the error. The day before, once the ‘twitterer’ realized that her account had been suspended, she wrote to the company to claim the fact, after that she received an automated message which was about the good practices in the network, which she claimed again and finally achieved her goal to restore the account
On July 23, the account @polificcion, from publisher, filmmaker and ‘tweeter’ Carlos Andrés Vera was the first to be suspended, the account has 23,988 followers. The filmmaker denied that this suspension is because he have violated any of the Twitter rules, he is sure to know them well and apply them responsibly.
Hours later were suspended more accounts: @Diana_Amores with 3405 followers @carlitoswayec with 3410 followers and @JJOLMEDO_.
When they tried to access to their accounts, the following message appeared: «Sorry, this user is suspended». Also @carlitosrugrats, account with 1194 followers stopped being on the air, apparently have been removed by the user.
After the blocking, @carlitoswayec wrote a message on his personal Facebook account, which was also posted on Twitter, Part of this reads as follows: «Friends, to write about the abuses and illegalities of this administration is not my cause, is a cause of all who want a fair country (…) If I being silenced someday, I hope not to be the last voice left in this country and this hibernating bear called Ecuador, wakes up.»
This is not the first time that the social network blocks the accounts of these users. On March 4, 2013 Twitter suspended the @polificcion Twitter account, minutes after he posted a message in which He questioned the Inter-American Human Rights changes urges by the Ecuadorian government. At that time, Vera said his account probably suffered a massive attack of «spam» allegations or someone requested the closure of his account.
