La activista y defensora de derechos humanos, Silvia Buendía, denunció en la madrugada del 7 de enero de 2016 amenazas contra su integridad por desconocidos en la red social Twitter. Cuentas como @mariaisabeles1, @baghdadisalima y @smouhiddin fueron deshabilitadas después de emitir las advertencias. Estas dos últimas se describían en sus perfiles como musulmanas y socialistas de Siria e Iraq.
«Sería una mala visión ver a @silvitabuendia amputada de pies y manos«, fue uno de los mensajes que le llegó a la activista desde la cuenta @baghdadisalima. Buendía confirmó a Fundamedios que fueron algunos tuits con este tipo de intimidaciones.

Las advertencias fueron publicados mientras Buendía impulsaba una campaña en esa red social contra el presidente de Turquía, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, quien visitó la semana pasada Ecuador. Con el hashtag #ErdoganAsesino algunos activistas y tuiteros, tanto ecuatorianos como turcos, cuestionaron la presencia del mandatario y el incidente del pasado jueves cuando seis mujeres fueron agredidas por la seguridad de Erdogan en un acto público en Quito.
Las amenazas contra Buendía fueron rechazadas en la red social y recibió la solidaridad de sus seguidores. La activista manifestó que pondrá una denuncia en la Fiscalía.
The activist Silvia Buendía was threatened on Twitter
In the early morning of 7 January, 2016, the activist and defender of civil rights, Silvia Buendía, denounced threats to her integrity made by strangers on the social network Twitter. Accounts such as @mariaisabeles1, @baghdadisalima and @smouhiddin were disabled after issuing the warnings. These latter accounts described themselves in their profiles as muslims and socialists from Syria and Iraq.
“It would be a bad vision to see @silvitabuendia amputated of her feet and hands“, it was one of the messages the activist received from the account @baghdadisalima. Ms. Buendía confirmed to Fundamedios that there were some tweets with that kind of intimidation.
The threats were posted while Ms. Buendía was promoting a campaign in that social network against the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who visited Ecuador last week. By using the hashtag #ErdoganAsesino (#Erdoganmurderer), some activists and tweeters, Ecuadorian and Turkish ones, questioned the presence of the president and the incident from last thursday when six women were assaulted by the security officials of President Erdogan during a public event in Quito.
The threats against Ms. Buendía were rejected in social networks and her followers showed solidarity with her. The activist stated that she will lodge a complaint before the Public Prosecutor’s office.
