El 29 de abril de 2014, el articulista de diario Hoy, Gonzalo Ortiz Crespo fue víctima de amenazas a través de un correo electrónico por el cual le advirtieron que lo tienen bien identificado, que le va a pasar algo porque “quien ríe al último ríe mejor”, y que además, tienen documentación en su contra que van a hacer pública.Según detalló en una entrevista el 30 de abril, en el programa “Buenos Días” en radio Visión, estas amenazas llegaron desde una cuenta de correo electrónico identificada como “Mallas Foch”, y firmado por “Jorge Wandemberg” y por “Fernando, Jorge y Ricardo”.
En diálogo con Fundamedios, el articulista aseguró que le tiene sin cuidado la documentación que dicen tener, pues su conciencia está tranquila. Sin embargo, sí le preocupan estas amenazas vagas que podrían atentar contra su integridad.
Ortiz cree que estas tienen relación directa con un artículo que escribió el pasado 25 de abril, titulado “GGM sirve para todo”. En él, el columnista de diario Hoy se refirió a los insultos que le llegan por parte de “fanáticos” simpatizantes del Presidente sobre los que dijo: “Pero me muero de la risa. Uno de estos me dice: “para que se ‘pique’ un poco, sepa usted que no pocos tienen acceso a la ‘Ivyleague’ y que es la segunda vez que nuestro líder da una conferencia en ese entorno . El sujeto no sabe lo que escribe: “no pocos tienen acceso”, dice. O sea: muchos tienen acceso y Correa es uno más. ‘Ivyleague” se escribe separado”.
“Esto parece que les picó”, apunta el articulista, quien mencionó que anteriormente desde este correo ya recibió un mensaje con insultos y que luego de la publicación del mencionado artículo, recibió estas amenazas. Ortiz cree que estas amenazas, además, son parte del ambiente“enrarecido y ominoso” para la prensa. “El presidente se da el lujo de trata de mentiroso o limitado o modosito a cualquiera, y sus seguidores no tardan en mandar insultos, siempre escudándose en los correos electrónicos o en redes sociales”, relató en radio Visión.
