El 07 de marzo de 2012, Geovanny Vinueza, camarógrafo de la estación televisiva Canela Tv fue agredido físicamente por familiares de los detenidos, durante un operativo policial antinarcóticos, en el sur de Quito.
Iván Moreta, gerente y director de noticias de Canela Tv narró a FUNDAMEDIOS que esa noche, el equipo del programa Pantalla Real acudió a cubrir un operativo antinarcóticos, en donde se capturó a cuatro presuntos expendedores de droga.
Después de ello, la policía y equipos periodísticos de algunos medios se dirigieron, en caravana, hacia otro sitio en donde pretendían allanar unas viviendas. Fue en ese trayecto, en donde familiares de los detenidos que habían seguido a la caravana, lanzaron piedras al vehículo del canal, impactando directamente en Vinueza, quien conducía el automóvil .
Lanzaron una enorme piedra al vidrio del conductor, lanzaron otra piedra y le provocaron lesiones en la pierna, clavícula, en el brazo y en la parte cervical. Ante esta agresión Geovanny abrió la puerta del auto y se cayó al suelo y, en ese momento, uno de los sujetos tomó otra piedra con la intención de impactarlo en la cabeza. Felizmente un agente antinarcóticos lo vio y evitó una agresión mayor”, apuntó Moreta, quien confirmó que los agresores huyeron y no pudieron ser detenidos.
Esa misma noche, Vinueza fue ingresado a una casa de salud y dado de alta en la madrugada del día siguiente. Sin embargo todavía debe permanecer en reposo, en su domicilio.
Camera operator beaten by relatives of people detained during anti-drug operation
On 7 March 2012, GeovannyVinueza, Canela TV station camera operator, was physically attacked by the relatives of people who were detained during a police anti-narcotic operation in southern Quito.
IvánMoreta, Canela TV manager and news director, told Fundamedios that on the evening in question, the team of the program Pantalla Real went to cover an anti-narcotic operation during which four alleged drug traffickers were captured. After the operation, the police and different media news teams drove in a convoy to another site where they wanted to raid some houses.While they were driving there, the relatives of the detainees, who had followed the convoy, threw stones at the TV station’s vehicle hitting Vinueza, who was driving the car, directly.
“They threw a huge rock at the driver’s window; they threw another stone and wounded him on the leg, clavicle, arm and cervical area.Geovanny opened the car’s door and fell to the floor and at that moment, a man took another stone meaning to hit him on the head.Luckily, one of the anti-narcotic officers saw this and avoided a more serious aggression”, said Moretta, who also confirmed that the aggressors fled and it was not possible to detain them.
Vinuezawas admitted to a healthcare facility that same night and released the next morning.However, he must still rest at home.
