El 12 y 13 de junio de 2013, dos“cadenas” ordenadas por la Secretaría Nacional de Comunicación (SECOM) interrumpieron el noticiero de la estación televisiva Ecuavisa. La primera se ordenó para afirmar que lo dicho por el medio en un reportaje la semana pasada era “falso”, mientras que en la segunda se rechazó la respuesta dada por ese medio tras la difusión de la primera. Los hechos se originaron días atrás cuando Ecuavisa difundió una nota referente a las reformas planteadas por el ejecutivo al código laboral en las que propone una entrega mensual de la décimo tercera y cuarta remuneraciones.
En la primera “cadena”, difundida exclusivamente en Ecuavisa durante tres minutos, se dijo que: “con mala fe o irresponsabilidad ese noticiero editó el anuncio presidencial”, referente a que dicha mensualización sería de carácter voluntario y se aseguró que, al contrario de lo que se habría mencionado en una nota de ese informativo, no existían problemas en la reserva internacional de libre disponibilidad.
Las afirmaciones de la SECOM fueron rechazadas por el presentador del noticiero, Alfonso Espinosa de los Monteros, quien aseguró: “Queremos aclarar que lo afirmado allí no es exacto, nuestro reportaje consultó opiniones de expertos en cifras oficiales sobre lo que ocurre con la reserva de libre disponibilidad al fin del año y no sobre su situación actual (…) En esta cadena se omite la intervención del reportero justamente en la que deja claro que la mensualización de los décimos será voluntaria”, apuntó .
La segunda “cadena” se enfocó en rechazar lo dicho por el presentador de Ecuavisa y se dijo que “lo que Espinosa sostiene como réplica no es exacto. El supuesto desbalance de la reserva internacional de libre disponibilidad lo dijo el locutor Espinosa en el titular de la noticia a nombre de Ecuavisa (…) Entonces la réplica del locutor de Ecuavisa no es correcta. Este noticiero editó la parte fundamental del anuncio del Presidente”.
Esta última“cadena” concluye con la siguiente frase: “Señores de Ecuavisa, no se den más vueltas y por el bien de la comunidad hagan un periodismo responsable con los ciudadanos. Otra vez nuestra réplica a informaciones inexactas, como lo demanda la Constitución.”
Two national broadcasts interrupt the space of a news space to clarify “inexact information”
On June 12 and 13, independent TV Station Ecuavisa was forced to interrupt its daily news space to air two national braodcasts.The first broadcast was ordered to contradict the information on a report aired last week, alleging it was “false”, while the second broadcast was aired in order to reject the response that Ecuavisa gave after the first one was aired. The broadcasts were based on a report that Ecuavisa did on the reforms to the Labour Code that were presented by the President, in which he proposed that the 13th and 14th salaries are added to the monthly salary each employee receives.
The first broadcast, which only Ecuavisa was forced to air, lasted three minutes and indicated, inter alia: “With a bad intention and irresponsibility this news space edited the Presidential announce”, indicating that such stipend would be voluntary. It indicated that, as opposed to what the note said, there were no problems in the country’s international reserve.
Alfonso Espinosa de los Monteros, Ecuavisa´s news presenter, rejected the statement made by the Government. “We want to clarify that what was said in the broadcast is false, our report was based on serious investigations from experts and in official data about what will happen with the international reserve at the end of the year and not about its current situation. (…) The broadcast did not air the intervention of the reporter on purpose, precisely when he indicated that the monthly stipend of the 13th and 14th salaries would be voluntary”.
In the second broadcast, the statement made by Espinosa de los Monteros was controverted, indicating that: “what Espinosa says is not accurate. The alleged lack of balance in the international reserve was mentioned when he presented the report in behalf of Ecuavisa, therefore his reply is not right. That news space edited the main argument made by the President on this regard”.
The second broadcast ended saying: “People from Ecuavisa, do not go around the bushes anymore and exercise journalism responsibly, for the sake of all Ecuadorian citizens.Once again, we present our response to your inaccurate information, as ordered by the Constitution.”
