El jueves 21 de abril de 2011, un funcionario de la embajada de Ecuador en Buenos Aires impidió que el libro «El Gran Hermano» de los periodistas de investigación Juan Carlos Calderón y Christian Zurita «no se venda, no se exhiba, ni se entregue», argumentando que «ese libro está lleno de mentiras, es un libro que esta contra el gobierno y el stand es pagado por el gobierno».
Así lo relató a Fundamedios un ciudadano ecuatoriano, residente en Buenos Aires quien contó que el funcionario lo increpó diciéndole «tú dejarías entrar a tu enemigo a tu casa».
Perfil.com de Argentina relató que al acercarse al stand de Ecuador para ver si el libro El Gran Hermano estaba a la venta, la persona que estaba atendiendo la mesa les dijo que «nunca vino ese libro y no está a la venta». Sin embargo en el blog se relata que «justo en ese momento llegó uno de los organizadores de la feria con una caja llena de ejemplares. Cuando la abrió y comenzó a retirar los libros que el presidente Rafael Correa no quiere que lean, el hombre le dijo en un solo grito: «Ese libro aquí no se vende».
La primera orden de que se retire los ejemplares del libro fue dada por el embajador de Ecuador en Buenos Aires, Wellington Sandoval .
Esta acción fue rechazada, mediante un comunicado emitido por «Paradiso», editorial que editó el texto periodístico., ahí se señala que «los convenios firmados entre la Cámara Ecuatoriana del Libro y el Ministerio de Cultura no le otorgan a esta entidad la facultad de censurar la exhibición de ninguna publicación… además, que la Convención Interamericana de Derechos Humanos como la Constitución de Ecuador, garantizan la libre circulación de los libros y la libertad de expresión»

On Thursday 21 April 2011, an Ecuadorian embassy official in Buenos Aires prevented the book «ElGran Hermano», written by investigative journalists Juan Carlos Calderón and Christian Zurita from being «sold, exhibited or handed out» arguing that «the book is full of lies, it is a book that is against the government while the stand is paid for by the government».
This was recounted to Fundamedios by an Ecuadorian citizen who lives in Buenos Aires, who also said that the official stated aggressively that «you would allow your enemy into your home».
Argentinean blogger Perfil.com narrated that when he approached the Ecuadorian stand to enquire if the book El Gran Hermano was on sale, the person in charge stated that «the book was never brought and it isn’t on sale».However, he continued «just at that moment one of the fair’s organizers arrived with a box full of copies».When the organizer opened the box and started to take out the books, which President Rafael Correa wants no one to read, the man in charge shouted:»That book is not sold here».
The first order stating that the book’s copies should be withdrawn was issued by the Ecuadorian ambassador in Buenos Aires, Wellington Sandoval.
This action was rejected through a statement issued by editing house «Paradiso», publisher of the journalists’ text. The statement points out that «agreements signed between the Ecuadorian Book Chamber and the Ministry of Culture do not grant this organization the authority to censor the exhibition of any publication… moreover, both the Inter American Convention on Human Rights and the Ecuadorian Constitution guarantee the freedom of circulation for books and the freedom of expression».
