El 4 de diciembre de 2014, el ministro del interior, José Serrano conminó al diario estatal El Telégrafo a rectificar una información contenida en una nota y le dio 24 horas para ello. Al día siguiente, el medio publicó la rectificación y pidió disculpas.
En su cuenta personal de Twitter, @ppsesa el Ministro escribió el siguiente mensaje: “Sobre nota «…se investiga a fondo al Alcalde Rodas» EL TELÉGRAFO, tamaña mentira, conmino a este medio a q pruebe o rectifique en 24 Hrs” .
La nota a la que se refirió el funcionario fue publicada por el medio el 3 de diciembre bajo el título: «Serrano afirma que se investiga a ‘fondo’ supuestos nexos del alcalde Rodas con Ignacio Muñoz». Tras la advertencia hecha por el Ministro, el periódico estatal rectificó el 4 de diciembre.
En su rectificación, el medio gubernamental pidió disculpas, tanto al Ministro del Interior, como al Alcalde de Quito, quien fue mencionado en dicha nota, así como a los lectores, por los errores de “apreciación” cometidos a partir de las declaraciones de Serrano.
State media rectifies an article after a warning made by a minister on Twitter
On December 4th 2014, the Minister for Internal Affair Jose Serrano urged the state newspaper El telegrafo to rectify information contained in a note and gave him 24 hours to do so. The next day, the media published the ratification and an apology.
In his personal Twitter account, @ppsesa the Minister wrote the following message: «About note» … Mayor Rodas is investigated thoroughly «EL TELÉGRAFO, great lie, I urge to this media to probe it or rectify it within 24 Hrs.»
The note to which the official referred was published by the media on December 3rd under the title: «Serrano says that ‘fully’ investigates alleged ties of Mayor Rodas with Ignacio Muñoz». After the warning issued by the Minister, on December 4th the state newspaper rectified.
In its rectification, the government media apologized to both, the Minister for Internal Affair, as the Mayor of Quito, who was mentioned in the note, as well apologized to the readers, for the «appreciation» mistakes made from Minister Serrano statements.
