El 22 de julio de 2015, diario Expreso informó que envió al superintendente de la Información y Comunicación, Carlos Ochoa, una petición de aclaración a una rectificación de una noticia que fue impuesta a ese periódico por parte de la Secretaría de Comunicación (Secom) y que llegó a la redacción de ese medio previamente diagramada y titulada. La acción se dio después de que el 14 de julio de 2015, el periodista de ese medio Alfonso Albán solicitara la rectificación de esa rectificación.
El medio explicó que tres días después de haber publicado la nota titulada: “’Correa no dará «ni un paso atrás’”, del 26 de junio -referente a declaraciones dadas por el presidente Correa durante su participación en la Asamblea Nacional Extraordinaria del Consejo Nacional de Gobiernos Parroquiales Rurales del Ecuador (Conagopare)- el secretario de comunicación Fernando Alvarado envió un oficio exigiendo la rectificación al medio de comunicación, por considerar que la nota publicada presentaba deficiencias en la verificación y que la frase que se le atribuía a Correa no la había pronunciado el Presidente. El medio acogió el pedido del funcionario y publicó la nota el pasado 2 de julio, tal y como fue enviada por esa Secretaría .
Sin embargo, el periodista Albán, en una comunicación enviada al periódico, solicitó la rectificación de la rectificación impuesta por la Secom. Según detalló el medio, el comunicador alegó que la información estaba verificada y contrastada y para ello adjuntó un audio y vídeo que recogían las palabras del Presidente Correa tal y como fueron publicadas en el periódico.
El rotativo espera que, tras el envío del escrito al Superintendente, este se pronuncie para pedir a la Secom que rectifique la rectificación solicitada a ese Diario.
Journalist demands that newspaper «rectify» rectification imposed by Secom
On 22 July 2015, Expreso newspaper reported that it sent the superintendent of Information and Communication, Carlos Ochoa, a request for the clarification of a rectification of a news article that was imposed on that paper by the Communications Secretariat (Secom) and that was sent to the media outlet already laid-out and including headlines. This occurred after on 14 July 2015, Expreso journalist Alfonso Albán requested a rectification of that rectification.
The newspaper explained that three days after publishing the article titled: »’Correa will not take «one step back'», on 26 June – about statements made by President Correa during his participation at the Extraordinary National Assembly of the National Council of Rural Parish Governments of Ecuador (Conagopare) – the communications secretary, Fernando Alvarado, sent an official letter to the media outlet demanding a rectification because, in his opinion, the published article lacked corroboration and the phrase attributed to Correa had not been said by the president. The outlet accepted the official’s request and published the article on 2 July exactly as it was sent by the Secretariat.
Journalist Albán, however, in a letter sent to the newspaper, requested a rectification of the rectification imposed by Secom. According to the paper, the communicator had claimed that the information had been verified and corroborated and had attached an audio and a video recording in which President Correa can be heard saying the exact words published by Expreso.
The newspaper is waiting for the Superintendent to request Secom to rectify the rectification requested from the newspaper.
