El 10 de mayo de 2011, el periodista Holguer Guerrero, colaborador del periódico en línea Ecuadorinmediato.com dijo haber sufrido agresiones verbales por parte de un grupo de comunicadores sociales y simpatizantes del ex director del Hospital de la Policía, César Carrión, cuando acudió a declarar como testigo en la audiencia del juicio que se sigue a Carrión por atentar contra la vida del presidente Rafael Correa el pasado 30 de septiembre de 2010, fecha de la sublevación policial.
Guerrero comentó a Fundamedios que acudió al tribunal penal a declarar su versión, cuando escuchó que algunos reporteros, que estaban en el sexto piso, le gritaron «allá van los corruptos», refiriéndose a él y a los demás testigos.
El periodista, quien durante los hechos ocurridos el 30-S laboraba como asesor del asambleísta gobiernista Fernando Bustamante, declaró en contra de Carrión, avalando la versión del Primer Mandatario.
Guerrero aseguró que, a esta agresión, se suman una serie de incidentes que para él son humillantes y denigrantes. Por ejemplo, citó la campaña de desprestigio que han iniciado periodistas como Fausto Yépez en su cuenta de Twitter, en donde se escribió especulaciones acerca de su reciente salida de Canal Uno y sobre su trayectoria laboral en entidades públicas.
Guerrero aseguró, además, que un día antes de dar su testimonio ante el tribunal penal, un automóvil rojo intentó interceptar su vehículo sin éxito y, «como una coincidencia admirable», según el periodista, una semana antes de tener que rendir testimonio, la dirección General de Inteligencia le comunicó que ya se acabó la protección para él y su familia, aunque todavía cuenta con ella .
A estos incidentes Guerrero denunció que está siendo acosado por parte del abogado de Carrión, Stalin López, quien hace una semana habría ordenado a su asistente llamar a la sobrina del comunicador para decirle que Guerrero ni siquiera tiene título profesional y que «ya saben de dónde cogerle».
Cabe recordar que en octubre de 2011, Guerrero fue amenazado de muerte y, hasta la fecha, la policía no ha determinado culpables. Según el comunicador, se ha dejado de investigar y su caso ha quedado en la impunidad.
El periodista responsabilizó a César Carrión, a su familia y a su abogado, en el caso de que le llegue a suceder algo a él y a su familia.
Journalist who witnessed 30-s is verbally attacked
On 10 May 2011, journalist Holguer Guerrero, contributor to the on-line newspaper Ecuadorinmediato.com, declared he was verbally attacked by a group of social communicators and sympathizers of the former director of the Police Hospital, César Carrión, when he appeared as a witness in the proceedings against Carrión, who has been accused of attempting on President Rafael Correa’s life on 30 September 2010, the day of the Police uprising.
Guerrero declared to Fundamedios that he was arriving at the tribunal to present his version of events when he heard that some reporters, who were in the sixth floor, shouted «there go the corrupt», referring to him and the other witnesses.
The journalist, who was working as a consultant for ruling party member of the national assembly Fernando Bustamante at the time of the events, declared against Carrión, endorsing the chief of state’sversion.
Guerrero stated that this aggression is an addition to a series of humiliating and denigrating incidents. He presented as an example the campaign to discredit him initiated by journalistFaustoYépez through his Twitter account, where he speculated about the motives why the journalist has recently left Canal Uno and wrote about his work in public entities.
Guerrero also stated that a day before presenting his testimony before the tribunal, a red car attempted to intercept his vehicle without success, and that, in what he described as a «remarkable coincidence», the General Intelligence Department notified him that he and his family would no longer receive protection, even though he still has it.
The journalist added that he is being harassed by Carrión’s attorney, Stalin López, whom he claims ordered his assistant to call the communicator’s niece to tell her that Guerrero has no professional qualifications and that «they know how to get to him».
It is worth remembering that Guerrero was threatened to death in October 2011 and that the Police have found no culprits yet.The journalist believes the case is no longer being investigated and that the threat will go unpunished.
Guerrero also declared he will hold accountable César Carrión, his family and his attorney if anything happens to him or his family.
