El 31 de enero de 2015 el presidente Rafael Correa, en su Enlace Ciudadano N° 409 tildó al periodista de diario El Comercio, Martín Pallares de “irresponsable sin ninguna ética” y le advirtió que tendrá que demostrar lo dicho en su artículo titulado “La tragedia de los Dhruvs y el fracaso del Ecuador como país”, en donde cuestionó la compra de una flota de siete helicópteros y la posterior caída de cuatro de ellos.
Al referirse al artículo de Pallares, el Primer Mandatario aseveró: “Es increíble el abuso, la falta de ética. Cómo tratan de manipular las cosas para ver si esta vez le hacen daño al gobierno. Se cayó otro helicóptero.Acuerdense que no había helicópteros antes y los compró el gobierno nacional entre otras cosas y ahora están sembrando una serie de dudas…”, apuntó.
Tras esto, el Presidente se refirió a Pallares como el “inefable y pendenciero” y dijo lo siguiente: “Qué vergüenza lo que lanza este tipo y a esto le llaman libertad de expresión y yo soy el malo que persigue a pobres, honestos periodistas perseguidos por políticos corruptos cuando es lo contrario. Políticos honestos perseguidos permanentemente por la prensa corrupta que no acepta que los gobiernos inclinen la cabeza a sus caprichos” .
En cuanto a los cuestionamientos planteados en el artículo de Pallares -en donde el periodista se refirió a “un sistema burocrático probablemente deshonesto y un sistema oficial de ocultamiento de información, digno de la más miserable república bananera”- el Jefe de Estado le advirtió: “Bueno tendrá que demostrarlo. Recibirá una respuesta contundente. No permitiremos que un irresponsable sin ninguna ética diga tal barbaridad. Tendrá que demostrar que hay ocultamiento de información. Los Dhruvs se compraron con licitación internacional. Todo está ahí. Pero se sabía que tenían desperfectos ¿Quién va a saber eso? El Dhruv que se accidentó y tuvo una víctima mortal era el Dhruv donde viaja el Presidente de la República. Claro que tal soy el corrupto que compra helicópteros con falla para viajar en ese mismo helicóptero. Corrupto y recontra bruto ¡quién puede creer esas cosas?”, concluyó.
President warns journalist that he will receive a “strong response” regarding his criticism on fallen helicopters
On January 31st, 2015, President Rafael Correa, during his Weekly Broadcast N° 409 called El Comercio newspaper journalist, Martín Pallares, “an irresponsible with no ethics” and warned that he will have to prove what he said on his article titled “The Dhruvs tragedy and Ecuador’s failure as a country”, in which he questioned the purchase of a seven helicopters fleet and the fall of four of these.
When referring to Pallares article, the President assured: “The abuse and lack of ethics are amazing. How they try to manipulate things to see if they can harm the government. Another helicopter has fallen. Remember that before there were no helicopters and the national government made this purchase, among other things, and they are now presenting so many doubts…” he said.
After this, the President referred to Pallares as the “unspeakable and quarrelsome” and said the following: “What a shame what this guy throws to us and this is called freedom of speech, and I am the bad guy who prosecutes these poor, honest journalists, prosecuted by corrupt politicians, when is the other way around. Honest politicians harassed permanently by the corrupt press that does not accept governments who do not bow their heads to their whims”.
Regarding the questions made throughout Pallares’ article – in which the journalist referred to a most likely dishonest bureaucratic system and an official information concealment system, worth of the most miserable banana republic” – the Chief of State warned him: “Well he will have to demonstrate it. He will receive a strong answer. We will not allow an irresponsible with no ethics to say such senseless things. The Dhruvs were purchased through an international bidding. Everything is there. We did not knew they had technical issues. Who will know that? The Dhruv that had the accident with a mortal victim, was the Dhruv where the President traveled. Of course I am the corrupt who buys faulty helicopters to travel in the same ones afterwards. Corrupt and super moronic, who can believe these things?” he concluded.
