El 7 de febrero de 2014 el Presidente Rafael Correa, en su Enlace Ciudadano N° 410 advirtió que responderá a sus críticos en redes sociales y que “seguirán dándoles de su propia medicina”. También aseguró que conocerán sus nombres, sus fotos y sus cuentas “para ver si les gusta lo que hacen a otros”.
Luego de la “batalla” declarada por el Presidente, a sus críticos en las redes sociales, este insistió en que se trata de una campaña de ataques sistematizada contra el gobierno. «Su objetivo es la de desprestigiar, generar odio, sobre todo al presidente para ver si nos dan un tiro, a ver si nos desgastan para las próximas elecciones. Algunas veces cometen ilegalidades y ahí se aplicará la ley como eso de pegarle un tiro en la cabeza al presidente. En cambio en otras mienten cuando eso es anti ético, deshonesto como lo que me sacaron lo del tal shopping. Pero sabremos responder”, apuntó.
Tras esto, el Jefe de Estado advirtió: “Seguiremos dándole su propia medicina. Somos más, muchos más. Estos cobardes en el anonimato calumnian, etc. y con esta página nos dan información y sabemos quiénes son y veremos si son tan jocosos cuando salgan del anonimato (…) Salen con folclóricas teorías que dicen que si uno fue electo tiene que aceptar a estar más expuesto a que se metan en su vida privada. Eso es falso, yo he sido electo por el pueblo ecuatoriano y no para aguantar a cualquier pelafustán que se meta con mi familia, mi vida privada. Y si lo hace responderemos con el mismo instrumento. Ya han de decir que estoy atacando la libertad de expresión, pero estoy respondiendo con mi libertad de expresión. Somos más, muchísimos más y les daremos de su propia medicina”.
En ese sentido, el Primer mandatario amenazó: “En primer lugar conoceremos los nombres de los calumniadores y en segundo lugar les sacaremos sus nombres, sus fotos, sus cuentas para ver si les gusta lo que hacen a otros.”
Durante el mismo enlace, el Presidente también arremetió contra el jurista Ramiro García por unos comentarios publicados en su cuenta personal de Twitter. García criticó al abogado Alembert Vera, quien ha defendido al Presidente Correa y actualmente defiende al prefecto del Guayas Jimmy Jairala en los juicios que interpuso contra el director nacional del movimiento de oposición Creo por injurias.
De García, el Jefe de Estado cuestionó su ética y dijo que “es un abogado muy conocido de la oposición, “incluso de corruptos abiertos y comentarista favorito de la prensa corrupta”. Tras estas declaraciones, García recibió amenazas de muerte a través de Twitter, cuando @zombiazul1979 escribió: “El hacha es para ti… por cierto tus días están contados”. Al respecto, García comentó que si estas amenazas se concretan espera que no digan que se trató de delincuencia común o asalto .
El caricaturista Xaiver Bonilla “Bonil”, y quien es defendido por García en los procesos que enfrente en la Superintendencia de la Información y Comunicación también fue insultado por el Jefe de Estado de quien dijo que confunde caricatura con pasquín. Tras esto, Bonil también recibió amenazas de ese mismo usuario quien le escribió: “El pez muere por la boca y tú por las mentiras, infamias y sarcasmos dibujados sin fundamentos”.
President threatens that names, pictures and accounts of his critics will be reveled throughout his “battle” in social networks
On February 7th, 2015, President Rafael Correa, during his Weekly Broadcast N° 410 he warned that he will respond to his critics on social networks and that will “keep giving them some of their own medicine”. Also he assured that their names, pictures and accounts will be known “to see if they like what they do to others”.
After the declared “battle” by the President against his critics on social networks, he insisted that it is a systematic attacks campaign against the Government. «Their objective is to diminish, promote hatred, mainly against the President to see if somebody shoot’s us, to see if they wear us out for the next elections. Sometimes they commit actions against the law, and it is then when we will apply the Law, as when they say that they will shoot the President in his head. While others lie and that it is against ethics, it is dishonest, like when they published about me going shopping. But we will know how to answer”, he said.
After this, the Chief of State warned: “We will keep giving them some of their own medicine. We are more, many more. These cowards remain in anonymity and slander, etc. and with this page they give us information and we will know who they are and we will see if they are so funny when their anonymity ends (…) They come up with folkloric theories stating that since I was elected, I have to endure being exposed and for them to meddle with my private life. That is false, I was elected by the Ecuadorian people and not to endure any fool to meddle with my family, my private life. And if they do, we will respond with the same instrument. They will say I am attacking their freedom of speech, but I am responding with my freedom of speech. We are more, many more and we will give them some of their own medicine”.
Accordingly, the President threatened: “In first place we will know the liars’ names and secondly we will publish their names, pictures and accounts to see if they like what they do unto others”.
During the same broadcast, the President also raged against lawyer Ramiro García for some comments published in his Twitter personal account. García criticized lawyer Alembert Vera, who has defended President Correa and is currently defending Guayas’ Prefect, Jimmy Jairala in the trials against CREO’s Director, an opposition political movement, for the charge of injury.
The Chief of State questioned García’s ethics and said he is “a well-known opposition lawyer, even of openly corrupt and favorite commentator of the corrupt press”. After these declarations, García received death threats through his Twitter account, for example when @zombiazul1979 wrote: “The ax is for you… by the way, your days are being counted”. Regarding this, García said that if these threats materialize, he hopes that they will not say is common crime or a robbery.
Cartoonist Xaiver Bonilla “Bonil”, who is currently being defended by García in the processes the Superintendence of Information and Communication (Supercom for its acronym in Spanish) holds against him, was also insulted by the President, who said he confuses cartoons with political flyers. After this, Bonil also was threatened by the same user, who wrote: “The fish dies by its own mouth and you for your lies, infamy and sarcasm drawn with no basis”.
