El sábado 1 de junio 2013, durante el enlace sabatino 324, transmitido por una gran parte de las radios y canales de TV del país, el presidente Rafael Correa advirtió al Editor de Contenidos de diario Hoy, Roberto Aguilar, que «si se mete en mi vida privada se va a encontrar conmigo».
Dicha amenaza la hizo durante el segmento «La amargura de la semana», en la que dijo lo siguiente: «Veamos la crónica de diario Hoy, propiedad del presidente de la SIP. Una crónica de su periodista Roberto Aguilar, un amargado que se metió en el colegio de mis hijos y si lo vuelve a hacer…, si se mete en mi vida privada, se va a encontrar conmigo, este tipo».
Correa se refería a una crónica que escribió Aguilar en abril de 2011, publicada por diario Expreso, bajo el título: «Cómo convertir una kermés en una piedra de molino», en la que relatóanécdotas del acto en el cual la hija del Presidente fue designada abanderada de su colegio. Posteriormente, el Mandatario interpretó algunas canciones junto al parlamentario Patricio Zambrano y a quien, para la época, era presidente del Consejo Nacional Electoral, Omar Simon .
Durante el enlace de este sábado, se incluyeron imágenes del rostro del periodista, mientras se cuestionaba una crónica de Aguilar acerca de un acto de masas que formó parte de los actos de posesión del tercer mandato del presidente Correa. En ella, se cuestionaba lo que el periodista llamó un «largo y estridente» acto desarrollado en la pista del antiguo aeropuerto de Quito.
Minutos después de la amenaza del Presidente, comenzaron a aparecer muchos mensajes en Twitter que descalificaban al periodista, entre otros: «… tienen basura en el cerebro», del usuario Jaime Efraín Peñafiel; «Los dinosaurios mediáticos deben desaparecer; Roberto Aguilar y sus crónicas del diario Hoy deben desaparecer», de Tatis Jiménez; en tanto «Joffre» escribió: «¡Qué imbécil ese editorial de Roberto Aguilar sobre la posesión popular de Correa! ¡Qué imbécil, Puta Madre!».
President threatens newspaper ‘Hoy’ journalist:»if he meddles in my private life he is going to find me»
On Saturday, 1 June 2013, during his No. 324 Saturday program, broadcasted by a large part of the country’s radio and TV stations, President Rafael Correa warned the Content Editor of newspaper Hoy, Roberto Aguilar, that “if he meddles in my private life he is going to find me”.
He made this threat during the segment «Bitterness of the week», when he said the following:”Let’s look at the article in newspaper Hoy, owned by the president of the IAPA.An article by its journalist Roberto Aguilar, an embittered man who he got into my children’s school and if he does it again…, if he meddles in my private life, he is going to find me, this guy”.
Correa referred to an article Aguilar wrote in April 2011, published by the newspaper Expreso with the title:“How to turn a school fair into a millstone”, in which he told anecdotes about the ceremony in which the president’s daughter was named her school’s flag bearer.Later, the president sang a few songs with Assembly member Patricio Zambrano and the then president of the National Electoral Council, Omar Simon.
Images of the journalist’s face were shown during this Saturday’s program while an article by Aguilar about a rally that was part of the ceremony for President Correa’s inauguration of his third term in office was questioned.The journalist had called the act, which took place in the landing strip of Quito’s old airport, “long and strident”.
Minutes after the president issued his threat, many twitter messages discrediting the journalist started arriving. They said, among other things:»… have trash in the brain”, by user Jaime Efraín Peñafiel; «Media dinosaurs must disappear; Roberto Aguilar and his Hoy articles must disappear”, by Tatis Jiménez; while «Joffre» wrote:»How stupid that editorial by Roberto Aguilar about Correa’s popular inauguration!What a jerk, fucking whore!»
