El sábado 1 de febrero de 2014, el presidente Rafael Correa, durante su Enlace Ciudadano N° 359, descalificó al caricaturista Xavier Bonilla “Bonil”, a quien llamó: “enfermo”, “sinvergüenza”, “sicario de tinta”, parte de los “odiadores cobardemente disfrazados de caricaturistas” y otros epítetos, al referirse a la caricatura publicada el pasado 28 de diciembre de 2013 y por la cual el humorista gráfico fue sancionado por la Superintendencia de Comunicación.
En ese contexto, el Presidente arremetió en contra de Bonil –quien en su caricatura retrató el allanamiento y confiscación de las computadoras del periodista y activista Fernando Villavicencio- y aseguró que “por más que lo haga con dibujitos no dejará de ser una gran mentira, una gran calumnia, una gran cobardía de estos que se ocultan bajo un tintero (…) Esto es jocoso de acuerdo a este tipo, que nos quiere ver la cara de imbéciles. ¡Esto es una calumnia señores! Y este tipo ante la falta de argumentos dice:‘yo puse lo que aclaró Fernando Villavicencio’. Entonces póngalo entre comillas, ponga la fuente, ponga que es el acusado y ponga la contra parte. Pero claramente este señor está mintiendo. Aquí no se está combatiendo la caricatura, el humor como falsamente la prensa quiere posicionar. Estamos combatiendo la mentira, la corrupción”, apuntó el Primer Mandatario.
Durante la sabatina, el Presidente también arremetió contra el abogado de Bonil, Ramiro García. “Vean al abogado que asesora a la Federación Médica, enemigo abierto del gobierno que lo obnubila su odio y habla cualquier tontería. Queda en segundo plano la parte jurídica. Ese es el tipo que ha escrito un editorial contra nosotros y que también asesora a la Federación Médica. No vuelvan a caer en esa trampa queridos médicos”, afirmó el Presidente. Lo descalificó por ser “abogado defensor de Fernando Villavicencio (…) de los 10 de Luluncoto” y “del ex juez Alberto Guerra que consiguió dinero de la petrolera Chevrón para testificar a favor de la multinacional” así como por ser “cercano a Fundamedios, a la UNP, a la AEDEP”. Al respecto, Fundamedios aclara que no tiene ningún vínculo con el abogado Ramiro García.
El Primer Mandatario presentó además un video relacionado a la supuesta existencia de “un extenso plan de acción contra la Revolución Ciudadana, que incluyó la compra de al menos tres canales de TV y del emporio CNN latino con los hermanos Isaías como dueños”. Esto se denunció sobre la base de un testimonio escrito en Facebook, por el periodista Alberto Padilla, expresentador de la CNN . En dicho video se presentaron imágenes de políticos como Osvaldo Hurtado y Lucio Gutiérrez, de periodistas como Carlos Vera y Janeth Hinostroza, y de activistas como César Ricaurte, director ejecutivo de Fundamedios, señalando que forman parte de este plan de acción al ser invitados “desaprensivos en hablar contra el gobierno de la revolución ciudadana”. En el video, mientras se vuelven a exhibir las imágenes, se afirma además “Cuando veamos a un opositor en algún medio norteamericano, ya sabemos, ahí está el inmenso poder de los hermanos Isaías y sus tentáculos (…) para recibir a cualquiera que hable mal de la revolución ciudadana (…) la trama y el desenlace de una inmensa confabulación internacional contra la revolución ciudadana.”
President attacks cartoonist and his lawyer and denounces «international conspiracy»
On Saturday, February 1st, 2014, the President Rafael Correa during his Saturday’s program No. 359, disqualified the cartoonist Xavier Bonilla «Bonil» whom he called «sick», «shameless», «sicario de tinta (ink murderer), part of the «cowardly haters disguised as cartoonists» and other epithets, referring to the cartoon published last December 28th, 2013 and for which the cartoonist was sanctioned by the Superintendence of Communication.
In this context, the President verbally attacked Bonil- who portrayed, in his cartoon, the seizure of the computers from journalist and activist Fernando Villavicencio- and said: “even though he does it with cartoons, it is still a big lie, a slander, a cowardice of those who hide under an inkwell (…) This is funny according to this guy, who wants to see us the face of idiots. This is a slander people! And this guy in the absence of arguments says‘I draw what Fernando Villavicencio denounced’. Then put it in quotes, I put the source, put it put the defendant and the counterpart. But clearly this man is lying. And here we are, not fighting the cartoon humor as the press wants to position falsely, but we are fighting the lies, the corruption”, said the president.
During the President’s Saturday’s program, Correa also attacked Bonil’s attorney, Ramiro Garcia and said the following: “See the lawyer who advises the Medical Federation, avowed enemy of the government that clouded his hate and talks any nonsense. It remains in the background the legal part. That’s the guy who wrote an editorial against us and also advises the Medical Federation. Do not fall into that trap dear doctors«, affirmed the President, who also disqualified García “for defending Fernando Villavicencio, the 10 of Luluncoto and the ex judge Alberto Guerra who got money from the Chevron oil company to testify on behalf of the multinational «as well as being» close to Fundamedios, the UNP, the AEDEP «. In this regard, Fundamedios clarifies that has no link with the attorney Ramiro Garcia.
The President also presented a video related to the alleged existence of «a huge action plan against the Citizen’s Revolution, which included the purchase of at least three TV channels and CNN Latin Emporium with the Isaias brothers as owners.» This was reported based on a written Facebook testimony of the journalist Alberto Padilla CNN’s former anchor.
In that video images of politicians such as Osvaldo Hurtado and Lucio Gutierrez; journalists, Carlos Vera and Janeth Hinostroza, and activists like Cesar Ricaurte, executive director of Fundamedios were presented indicating that part of they are part of the action plan, for being invited to «unscrupulously speak against the government of the people’s revolution».
While they show the video with the images mentioned above, they, again, say, “When we see an opponent in any American media, we know, there is the immense power of the Isaias brothers and their tentacles (…) for anyone who speaks bad of the citizen’s revolution (…) the plot and outcome of an immense international conspiracy against the citizen’s revolution. «
