El sábado, 24 de enero de 2015, el presidente Rafael Correa, amenazó con revelar la identidad de los usuarios que lo critican en las redes sociales puesto que «abusan del anonimato y la libertad que dan las redes», esto como parte de lo que denominó «la batalla por la dignidad en las redes sociales». La advertencia la hizo en su enlace sabatino 408, desde la provincia de Loja, 623km al sur de Quito.
Según dijo el Mandatario, espera ser informado, por sus seguidores en la red, de la identidad de los usuarios que lo «insulten» y luego revelar la identidad de los internautas en su enlace sabatino para «que lo conozca la gente y ver si siguen siendo tan valientes para insultar».
Con la creación de la página «Somos Más», el presidente Correa pretende contrarrestar lo que llamó «campañas de difamación» en contra de su gobierno, «a través de esta página nos vamos a organizar para rebatir tanta infamia en redes sociales», explicó que mediante esta página mandarán «la cuenta que está difamando para que le lleguen 10 mil twitter de los seguidores de la revolución ciudadana diciendo la verdad…» .
En este enlace, Correa mostró la fotografía y reveló la identidad de tres usuarios de la red social Twitter: @Shamisantamaria, @Dannybarrabas84 y @tuiterovendido, este último de 18 años que escribió en su cuenta «la secretaria de la facultad de derecho la universidad de Guayaquil son de lo peor, dónde está tu maldita intervención @MashiRafael, aquí en Ecuador cambiaría @MashiRafael, se cree justo y honrado pero roba más que las empresas telefónicas el saldo» a este usuario le exigió que compruebe su afirmación «me está acusando de ladrón, va a tener que demostrar que robo, sino el corrupto es él, si hay que recurrir a la parte legal lo haremos», advirtió Correa.
