El 19 de noviembre de 2011, el presidente de la Asamblea Nacional, Fernando Cordero, advirtió públicamente a una ciudadana ecuatoriana residente en Estados Unidos, a través de la red social de microbloggin Twitter, que «cambie su lenguaje o pronto le pesara su libertinaje», tras un comentario que vertió la «tuitera», en contra del funcionario.
La reacción del Presidente de la Asamblea Nacional se dio después de que Betty Escobar, identificada en Twitter bajo el nombre de @basoledispa publicó un comentario dirigido a Cordero que decía: «inepto eres tu , incumples ley y apoyas dictadura! deberías ir preso tu y correa x corruptos! no tienes principios! doble moral», a lo que el funcionario respondióque: «lea Constitución art.18, trate de entender lo q es responsabilidad ulterior, cambie su lenguaje o pronto le pesara su libertinaje».
En respuesta al comentario de Cordero, la «tuitera» publicó en su cuenta que: «Soy una ciudadana ecuatoriana con todo mi derecho a expresarme sobre todo cuando veo que los políticos que trabajan para y por el pueblo no lo están haciendo… en lugar de darme un argumento valido, me amenaza, y públicamente, guardaré la foto de su mensaje porque si llega a hacer algo contra mí, Ud, será el único responsable…» .
Minutos posteriores al mensaje de Cordero, se podía leer en la red social comentarios de solidaridad con la «tuitera» diciéndola que «no está sola» y que «siga adelante», mientras que otros, expresaban su desacuerdo con la usuaria y le recomendaban al Presidente de la Asamblea que la bloqueara.
Escobar justificó el contenido de su publicación porque, según explicó a sus seguidores en comentarios posteriores, que «le dijo inepto porque él (Cordero) dijo inepto a la Asamblea en un re tweet anterior, y corrupto, porque anunció algo y luego contradijo», respecto a la discusión que hay sobre si el proyecto de Ley Tributaria debe archivarse, como votó la oposición, o pasar directamente por el Ministerio de la Ley.
President of the assembly warns twitter user after she published a comment in the network
On 19 November 2011, the President of the National Assembly, Fernando Cordero, issued a public warning against an Ecuadorian citizen who lives in the United States. Through the micro-blogging social network Twitter, Cordero warned her to “change her language or she will soon regret her licentiousness”, after she ‘twitted’ a comment against the official.
The National Assembly’s President reacted to a comment aimed at him by Betty Escobar, identified in Twitter by the name @basoledispa. It said:“you are incompetent, you fail to comply with the law and you support the dictatorship! you and correa should go to prison for corruption! double morality”. The official responded to this by writing:“read art. 18 of the Constitution, try to understand what ulterior liability is, change your language or you will soon regret your licentiousness”.
As a reply to Cordero’s comment, Escobar published in her account: “I am an Ecuadorian citizen with full rights to express myself, especially when I see that politicians who should work for the people are not doing it… instead of presenting me with a valid argument, you threaten me publicly. I will keep a photo of your message because if anything is done against me you will be the only responsible party…»
Minutes after Cordero’s message appeared, many comments stating their solidarity towards her were also published saying “you are not alone” and “carry on”, while others expressed their disagreement and recommended to the President of the Assembly that he should block her.
Escobar justified the contents of her initial publication explaining to her followers in later postings that “she called him incompetent because he (Cordero) called the Assembly incompetent in a previous ‘tweet’, and corrupt because he announced something and then denied it». This was in regard to the current debate about whether the Tax Law bill should be filed, as voted by the opposition, or become Law directly.
