El 2 de agosto de 2014 el Presidente Rafael Correa, durante su Enlace Ciudadano 384 descalificó a la prensa, en especial, al equipo de la revista digital Plan V, de quienes dijo son unos “amargados”, “acomplejados”, y “mediocres” que juegan con los intereses sagrados de la Patria, por la publicación de una investigación que revela la existencia de un contrato de más de 6 millones de dólares, firmado entre el Estado y una empresa de ecuatorianos, entre los cuales figuran algunos exfuncionarios.
Durante el segmento La libertad de expresión ya es de todos, el presidente aseguró que los medios están posicionando un escándalo sobre un contrato de lobby. “¿De dónde sacan todas estas locuras? Qué complejos que tienen! O sea tratar de disminuir al otro para sentirse superior. Eso es símbolo de mediocridad. En verdad esas empresas han tenido que ser contratadas para defender al país ante esta arremetida criminal de Chevron”, afirmó Correa.
Tras reiterar que dicho contrato tuvo por objeto la defensa del país, el Presidente arremetió directamente contra Plan V y dijo: “son estos amargados que nos odian. $6,4 millones para la imagen del líder mundial. ¿De dónde sacan estas cosas estos enfermos? ¿Hay que ser acomplejado no? (…) ¿De dónde sacan esto para aseverar que se contrataron esas empresas para mejorar la imagen del liderazgo mundial del presidente Correa? Acomplejados, mediocres. Después soy yo el que insulta ¿Cómo más se define esto? Qué no saben con lo que están jugando, con los intereses sagrados de la patria”, dijo el Presidente antes de insinuar que no les extrañe que Chevron esté atrás de esto, pagando a periodistas para hacer daño.
Adicionalmente, el Presidente descalificó un informe sobre la Independencia Judicial en Ecuador editador por la Fundación para el Debido Proceso, Dejusticia y el Instituto de Defensa Legal, así como a su autor Luis Pásara y a la Relatora Especial para la Libertad de Expresión de la CIDH, Catalina Botero, de quien dijo que es tristemente célebre y que odia al Ecuador .
Según su criterio, dicho informe es “un insulto a la inteligencia (…) hecho con total mala fe de los mismos de siempre” y acogiendo unas declaraciones hechas por Gustavo Jalkh, Presidente del Consejo Nacional de la Judicatura, en una radio, conminó a Luis Pásara a venir al país para debatir estos temas. Al respecto dijo: “Vamos a ver si viene y si no viene ustedes podrán corroborar que son unos grandes mentirosos. Esto es parte de la restauración conservadora que tienen cooptados todos estos pseudo organismos internacionales, que financian a las ONG´s para que vengan a decir cualquier cosa de los gobiernos progresistas y hacerse eco de los amargados de siempre. Vamos a ver si viene el señor Pásara y si no viene ustedes corroborarán que es un mentiroso (…) que repite las mentiras de los de siempre: los radiodifusores, los periódicos. Si no viene ese señor se confirmará que es una patraña solo para hacer daño a la revolución ciudadana…”, concluyó.
President disqualifies the media, international organizations and reporter, and points them as «sick», «liars» and «haters»
On August 2, 2014 President Rafael Correa during his 384 weekly broadcast disqualified the press, especially the team of the digital magazine Plan V, who the president said are a «bitter», «self-conscious» and «mediocre», accusing Plan V of playing with the state’s sacred interests, because a publication based on a research that reveals the existence of a contract of more than USD 6 million, signed between the State and an Ecuadorian company in which former officials are involved.
During the segment: the Freedom of expression is ours, the president said that all the media are positioning a scandal over lobby contract. «Where do they get all these crazy things? What kind of complexes they have? They try to reduce other people to feel superior. That is a symbol of mediocrity. In fact these companies had to be hired to defend the country against this Chevron’s criminal onslaught «, Correa said.
After reiterating that the contract was intended mainly to defend the country, the President lashed directly against Plan V and said: «these are bitter that hate us. USD 6.4 million for the image of the world leader. Where do these mental sick people get these things? It is necessary to be very self-conscious right? (…) Where do they get this to assert that these companies were hired to improve the image and the global leadership of President Correa? Self-conscious and mediocre people. Then I’m the one insulting. How else can be defined this? They do not know what they are playing with, the sacred interests of the country», the President said but prior He insinuate that don’t be surprised if Chevron is behind all this, paying journalists to do harm.
Additionally, the President disqualify a report about Ecuador’s Judicial Independence edited by the Due Process of law Foundation, Dejusticia and the Legal Defense Institute, likewise disqualify the report’s author Luis Pásara and also the IACHR Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression, Catalina Botero, who the President said is sadly infamous and that she hates Ecuador.
In his opinion, the report is «an insult to the intelligence (…) written with bad faith of the usual people» and taking statements made by Gustavo Jalkh, President of the National Judicial Council, on a radio, he enjoined Luis Pásara to come to the country to discuss these issues. In this regard the President said: «Let’s see if he comes and if he is not you can corroborate that all are big liars.
This is part of the conservative restoration that had co-opted all these pseudo international organisms that fund NGOs to come and say anything about the progressive governments and reflect the bitter of the usual people. Let’s see if Mr. Pásara comes and if he is not coming, it will corroborate that you he is a liar (…) repeating the lies of the usual: broadcasters, newspapers. If this man is not coming will confirm that it is a hoax just to hurt the citizens’ revolution … «, he said.
