Este lunes 13 de mayo del 2012, el secretario de comunicación Fernando Alvarado aseguró en su blog oficial que su secretaría «develó» a través de «acciones de seguimiento» lo que considera posibles «conexiones peligrosas entre este medio de información, con facciones policiales y militares dispuestas a ejecutar un planificado golpe de estado» e instó a que se investigue el rol que jugó Teleamazonas durante los hechos ocurridos el 30 de septiembre y el manejo de la información con la que el medio televisivo preparó su noticiero.
Tras el anuncio del Primer Mandatario, de pedir al fiscal general Galo Chiriboga que investigue estos hechos, este acudió la tarde del lunes 13 de mayo a una reunión con Correa en el Palacio de Carondelet. Dos horas y media más tarde, Chiriboga informó a la prensa que no se abrirá una nueva indagación sobre los ‘tuits’ publicados por el periodista de Teleamazonas, Milton Pérez, pero que llamarán al periodista a presentar su versión ante las autoridades, informó el medio estatal El Telégrafo.
Por su parte, el periodista Milton Pérez, aclaró en un ‘tuit’ enviado el 13 de mayo, a través de su cuenta @miltonperezsh que cuando escribió a su colega en Colombia, se «refería a la muerte cruzada, que esa noche era fuerte rumor». Esto porque en ese entonces el Presidente amenazó a la asamblea con aplicar la denominada «muerte cruzada», después de que esta ratificó la Ley de Servicio Público.
Este lunes, una cadena de radio y televisión interrumpió durante seis minutos y medio los espacios informativos matinales de algunos medios ecuatorianos para reforzar la tesis del gobierno respecto a que Teleamazonas y sus periodistas sabían lo que iba a ocurrir en los hechos del 30 de septiembre de 2010 (día de la sublevación policial que calificado por el gobierno como intento de golpe de Estado). El video transmitido en esta cadena fue difundido el sábado anterior en el Enlace Ciudadano No 321, en el cual el presidente Rafael Correa pidió al Fiscal General investigar a los periodistas.
En dicho video, se mostró un ‘tuit’ enviado, un día antes de los hechos, por el presentador de noticias del canal, Milton Pérez, a su colega en Colombia Andrea Bernal, el 29 de septiembre que decía: ‘Pon toda la atención en lo que pueda pasar en Ecuador, serán días claves y puede ser muy intenso’. Esto, para Correa es prueba de que Pérez estuvo «previendo lo que iba a ocurrir el 30S».
Tras esto, la cadena se preguntó por qué entonces Teleamazonas se preparó para la transmisión con mucha anticipación. «Pocas horas después (del tuit de Pérez) Teleamazonas puso todo su arsenal al aire y claro, fue el primer canal en salir en vivo desde el regimiento Quito, en directo (…) Para hacer esto, Teleamazonas, sin duda, debió instalar su equipo de microondas en horas de la madrugada con el permiso y la autorización de los policías sublevados. Dos o tres horas después, un reportero de Teleamazonas, (Freddy Paredes) servía de fuente para amplificar la sublevación ( …) el llamado del reportero de Teleamazonas tuvo su efecto deseado y en pocos minutos el aeropuerto era tomado por miembros de la FAE. El reportero cumplió con lo encargado y claro, otro equipo de microondas para transmitirlo en vivo.
Después de la cadena, la presentadora María Josefa Coronel lamentó que el Gobierno solo muestre un par de ‘tuits’ y no los muchos mensajes que enviaron en solidaridad con el Presidente y su familia. También señaló que no es verdad que Teleamazonas haya emitido primero información sobre los sucesos de ese día. En realidad, dijo la presentadora, la estación Ecuavisa lo hizo antes.
Communications secretary accuses TV station of “possible dangerous connection” to those who participated in the 30s uprising
On Monday 13 May 2013, communications secretary Fernando Alvarado asserted in his official blog that his office has «revealed» through «monitoring activities» what he considers a possibly «dangerous connections between this media outlet and police and military splinter groups who are willing to execute a planned coup” and called for an investigation into the role played by Teleamazonas during the events of 30 September and the handling of the information used by the TV station to prepare its news program.
Following the president’s announcement that he will request Attorney General GaloChiriboga to investigate these facts, Alvarado attended a meeting with Correa at the Palace of Carondelet on the afternoon of Monday 13 May.Two and a half hours later, Chiriboga told reporters that a new inquiry into the ‘tweets’ published by Teleamazonas journalist Milton Pérez will not be opened, but that the journalist will be summoned to present his version before the authorities, reported the State newspaper El Telégrafo.
Meanwhile, journalist Milton Pérez said in a ‘tweet’ posted on 13 May through his account @miltonperezsh that when he wrote to his colleague in Colombia he “referred to the possibility that Parliament would be dissolved, which was a strong rumor that night”.This is because at the time the president threatened the Assembly with applying the so-called «cross-death», after it ratified the Public Service Law.
On Monday, a radio and television ‘chain’ interrupted for six and a half minutes the morning news programs of some Ecuadorian media outlets to reinforce the Ecuadorian government’s thesis regarding the fact that Teleamazonas and its journalists knew what was going to happen on 30 September 2010 (day of the police uprising described by the government as a coup attempt).The video broadcasted by this chain was released the previous Saturday during the No 321 ‘Enlace Ciudadano’, in which President Rafael Correa asked the Attorney General to investigate the journalists.
The video showed a ‘tweet’ sent one day before the events by the TV station’s news presenter, Milton Pérez, to his colleague in Colombia Andrea Bernal that said:’Pay attention to what might happen in Ecuador, these will be key days and it can be very intense’. This according to Correa is evidence that Pérez was «anticipating what was going to happen on 30S».
After that, the chain asked why Teleamazonas had prepared for the transmission with so much anticipation.»A few hours after (Pérez’s tweet) Teleamazonas displayed its entire arsenal on air and was the first station to broadcast live from the Quito Regiment.To be able to do this Teleamazonas must have certainly installed its microwave equipment in the early morning hours with the permission and authorization of the rebel police officers.Two or three hours later, a Teleamazonas reporter (Freddy Paredes) operated as a source to amplify the uprising (…)the Teleamazonas reporter’s call had the desired effect and within minutes the airport was taken by members of the Ecuadorian Air Force.The reporter complied with what he was asked to do and, of course, another microwave equipment to broadcast live».
After the chain, presenter MaríaJosefa Coronel regretted that the government showed only a couple of ‘tweets’ and not the many messages sent in solidarity with the president and his family.She also pointed out it is not true that Teleamazonas was the first to report about the events of that day.In fact, said the presenter, Ecuavisa did it before.
