Sitio web de la presidencia y su periódico digital sufren ataque de hackers

El 19 de junio de 2011, la página web de la Presidencia de Ecuador y el periódico digital del gobierno El Ciudadano sufrieron un ataque informático que mantuvo a los sitios fuera del aire durante dos y una hora, respectivamente. La autoría de este ataque se atribuyó a un grupo de que se identificó como los Latin hack team .

Con el mensaje «¡Contra la hipocresía y la corrupción de los gobiernos, por la libertad de expresión!» la portada principal de las páginas www.presidencia.gov.ec y www.elciudadano.gov.ec fue suplantada durante dos horas. En ellas también se podía ver la imagen del Escudo Nacional y una frase en inglés con los pseudónimos  que identificaban a los responsables.

En declaraciones para el medio estatal El Telégrafo, Marco Antonio Bravo, subsecretario de Innovación y Nuevos Medios y responsable del portal informativo aseguró que no hubo daño a la información ni a las bases de datos de ambos portales, y que el caso está siendo analizado con el área de seguridad y sistemas de la Presidencia.

Presidency’s website and digital newspaper suffer hacker’s  attack

On 19 June 2011, the Presidency of Ecuador’s webpage and the government’s newspaper El Ciudadano suffered a cyber-attack that kept the sites off the air for two and one hours, respectively.The attack was attributed to a group identified as the Latin Hack Team.

The message «Against government hypocrisy and corruption, for the freedom of expression!»appeared on the homepages of www.presidencia.gob.ec andwww.elciudadano.gob.ecsubstituting their usual contents for two hours.An image of the national coat-of-arms could also be seen, as well as a message in English identifying those responsible.

Marco Antonio Bravo, sub-secretary of Innovation and New Media and responsible for the informative portal, affirmed in declarations to the state-owned newspaper El Telégrafo, that both portals’ information and database had not been damaged and that the case is being analyzed by the Presidency’s security and systems department.
