Desde el 28 de octubre de 2015, la cuenta de Twitter de la periodista María Fernanda Egas (@maferegas), articulista del medio digital LaRepublica.ec permanece suspendida. En diálogo con Fundamedios, Egas comentó que la red social decidió suspender de manera definitiva su cuenta que contaba con más de dos mil seguidores, sin que se le diera mayores explicaciones ni detalles de dicha suspensión, o si es que esta acción fue provocada por algún ‘tuit’ en específico.
El único argumento que le dio Twitter fue que ella habría violado las reglas al publicar información privada . Sin embargo, la tuitera aseguró que todo lo que escribía o compartía en la red era de dominio público y que su última publicación fue algo relacionado a la asambleísta de oposición Lourdes Tibán en Estados Unidos y un hashtag o etiqueta que promocionó bajo el nombre #ADefenderLoGanado, en donde muchos usuarios cuestionaron a los funcionarios públicos del actual gobierno acusándolos de haberse enriquecido durante el ejercicio del poder.
Fundamedios conoció que otra cuenta crítica @PunisherRevenge también fue suspendida de manera definitiva. Sin embargo no se ha podido contactar al afectado.
Twitter account suspended
Since 28 October 2015, the Twitter account of journalist María Fernanda Egas (@maferegas), a writer for the digital outlet LaRepublica.ec, remains suspended. Speaking to Fundamedios, Egas commented that the social network decided to indefinitely suspend her account, which had over two thousand followers, without giving explanations or details of the suspension, or if this action was triggered by some ‘tweet’ in particular.
The only argument presented by Twitter was that she had infringed the rules by publishing private information. Egas, however, asserted that everything she wrote or shared on the network was common knowledge and that her last tweet was in some way related to opposition assemblywoman Lourdes Tibán in the US and a hashtag she promoted under the name #ADefenderLoGanado, where many users questioned public officials of the current government accusing them of having got rich during their time in power.
Fundamedios learned that another critical account, @PunisherRevenge, was also permanently suspended. However, it has not been able to contact the owner of the account.
